Not enough thought is given to the size of the table. Often people choose tables that are inappropriate for the size of the group that will be seated. When seated at the table, diners need close to two feet of space each to avoid overcrowding. If you are going to have varying numbers of guests, consider an extendible oak table. You will be able to seat your immediate family while it is in its folded up state, but expand it to serve all of your company at the same table. Whether you choose a fixed dining room table or extendible table, you need to ensure that there is a minimum of 2.5 to 3 feet available for walking around the perimeter of the table.
A table design should be attractive to the eye. It should have nice curves and design that will match the glass and metal or wooden frame used. A powder coat on the metal will also do the trick. These can be placed in different areas of the room to bring up a different feel in the area they have been placed.
Tables are said to have existed from as far back as a 4000 years ago. The pioneers of tables in the home were the Greeks who used to have metal or wooden tables decorated with various arts. They were necessary to decorate any home interior. This is why you would find Italians choosing similar but smaller tables with a column that ran through the middle.
